Pacific Northwest Scenic Trail
For the Yaak Montana Area
The Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail (PNNST) is a 1200 mile long non-motorized trail that runs from the Continental Divide in Montana to Cape Alava on the Washington Coast. The trail runs through Yaak on its route through northern Montana. On March 30th 2009 President Barack Obama signed into law the Omnibus Public Lands Bill which included designating this trail a National Scenic Trail.
Each year more thru hikers hike the 1200 mile trail some headed east others headed west. Most of the National Scenic trails are north south affairs but the PNNST is and east west trail crossing numerous mountain ranges making the trail a real challenge. More information about the trail can be found at www.pnt.org/
